Idaho County Sheriff's Office increases evacuation levels due to wildfires

Idaho County Sheriff's Office has increased evacuations in two areas in the last eight hours, according to their Facebook page.

At about 7 p.m. they issued Level 2 evacuations for the Elk City/Red River/Newsome areas. Level 2 means there is a high probability that a need to evacuate the area may become necessary. People are asked to please use common sense and evacuate at anytime they feel uncomfortable or see active fire behavior.

At 4 p.m., a Level 2 evacuation for the Red River area from the Hotsprings at the end of the 234 Road to the 222 Road and everything along the 222 Road north to Highway 14 was issued. South of the junction is not included.

At 2 p.m., Cook Ranch and Mallard Creek were moved to a LEVEL 3 evacuation due to the Noble Fire. Residents were asked to gather family, pets and prescriptions and leave the area.

Also at 2 p.m., Level 2 evacuation status was issued for Powell due to the Jay Point Fire. Prepare an evacuation plan. Plan for those with medical concerns, as well as pets and livestock. Prepare prescriptions and important papers for quick access.
