John Malloy (grandfather of former District Judge John Bradbury) was a pioneer of Clearwater County and its first assessor. He, as other county officials from 1911 when the county was formed, was given a U.S. flag that presumably flew over the first courthouse. The flag only has 46 stars because the last four state had not been added to the union. Bradbury donated the flag to the Clearwater Historical Musaum and it is on permanent loan to Clearwater County.
