Editor's Note: Window on the Clearwater has joined the Wednesday's Child network to help spread the word about children that are waiting for families to give them the loving care that they need. Each Wednesday we will profile a different child. For more information about Wednesday's Child and how you can be involved check the web site at: http://www.idahowednesdayschild.org/.

Layla

Age: 15

"My name is Layla. I like to listen to music. I like every kind of music except for blues, classical and jazz. I also like to play basketball and football, draw and read. My favorite book is 'Where I Want To Be.' I often like to hang out in my room listening to music, reading, drawing and thinking.

I would like a family who listens to my feelings and concerns. I would like some freedoms, such as having a cell phone and being able to hang out with friends. I like that my foster parents are honest with me and set up good boundaries that keep me safe. I do not want a family that requires me to go to church. I would like to be the only child in the home. I am okay with siblings who are older and have moved out of the home.

I have younger siblings that I want to stay in touch with, so I would like to stay in North Idaho or Eastern Washington."

Layla is a charming young lady who knows what she wants in life. She is open to a wide range of parent combinations - single, couple, same sex - but knows that she would struggle with sharing a parent's attention with other siblings still in the home. She enjoys one-on-one attention and would thrive with parents who could pour time and energy into helping her blossom from a young woman to an adult. If given a preference, Layla would rather be indoors, reading or listening to music, rather than being active outdoors.

Layla is open with her thoughts and feelings and needs parents who can help her digest her thoughts and opinions without being easily shocked. She has some family ties that she would like to maintain, namely with her younger siblings, aunts and cousins.

If you think you are the parent(s) for Layla, call the Idaho CareLine today.
